Sports medicine is an area of health care that applies knowledge of medicine and anatomy to recognize, prevent, manage, and rehabilitate injuries related to sports and other physical activity. Sports medicine teams can consist of sports trainers, physicians, athletes, coaches, and officials. Together the sports medicine team utilizes its knowledge and experience to help coordinate the prevention, education, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the patient.
